Post 2000 Everett and Lyle!
Task Force DVD - Although the progress of Task Force DVD was put on hold due to the post elections,
we hope to resume as soon as possible. Progress of the program was handed to our new 2nd Vice-Commander, Mark Smith. Members
are still urged to donate new and used DVD and VHS movies to our troops. Until the drop boxes are in place, you may donate by
either attending one of our monthly meetings (the 3rd Tuesday of every month) or give me a call and I will pick them up (971)241-7710.
Most people have DVD and VHS movies they never watch anymore so here's the per-fect opportunity to donate them, so please donate all
you can for the benefit of our troops.
Memorial Day 2010 - All local Veterans Service Organizations will assemble on May
31st for Memorial Day observances. We will carry out Memorial Day services at the 4 local cemeteries, beginning with Grand Ronde
at 8:30 AM, followed by Willamina at 9:30, Buck Hollow at 10:30 and concludes at Sheridan at 11:30. The days ceremon-
ies conclude
with the annual dedication of new names at the West Valley Veterans
Memorial on the Tribal grounds of the Confederated Tribes of Grand
Ronde at 3:00. At last years services, the Honor Guard was joined by the artillery battery of the Oregon National Guard
who, following the rifle volley, fired 3 salutory shots from 105mm Howitzer cannon and have been invited back for this years ceremonies,
a real treat to watch. Come on out with us while we remember our fallen heroes.
I would like to thank all members for their
continued support of Post 2000 and for their service which helped make the United States the greatest country in the world.
Our next monthly meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 18th at 7:30 PM at the Willamina VFW Hall. Hope to see you all there!
