Join AMVETS

     As with any other organization, AMVETS relies on the support of it's membership to survive.  Obviously, without the strength and support of it's members, we cannot continue to serve Veterans and the community.  This is why that, out of all the different aspects which makes AMVETS function, the never-ending need for increased membership is the most critical, and we need your support!

     Qualification is easy!  With other Veterans Service Organizations, some special condition must be met, such as being disabled, having served in a foreign war or during certain periods of time.  What qualifies you for AMVETS membership?  If you were Honorably discharged, you qualify.  No special conditions, just Honorably discharged (General Discharge Under Honorable Conditions is also accepted).  Our Post Chaplain, Bud Abbott, has always stood firm on the fact that AMVETS has the potential to be the largest and strongest Veterans Service Organization in existence because of how inexpensive it is to join and the ease of qualification.

     When a person thinks of a typical Veterans Service Organization, the typical stereo-type draws visions of a group of senior-citizen-type men or women who always talk about the old war and the way it was back then.  Not so!  Due to the conflicts raging in Iraq and Afghanistan, AMVETS is beginning to attract and serve a younger generation of Veterans.  The youngest active member in Post 2000, currently, is only 29 years old!

That's right.  AMVETS is turning to the younger generation of Veterans and we look to this younger generation to increase support within the organization and make it stronger.

     The cost for joining AMVETS is among the lowest of all organizations.  Members may join on an annual basis for the cost of just $25.00 per year or purchase Life Membership for $175.00.  But, Post 2000 has a membership discount program for all new mem-bers!  Join AMVETS and receive $5 off first year dues and $20 off Life Membership fees.  But our membership incentives don't stop with new members, but is extended to current members as well.  Rewards for recruiting new members operate by the following table:

These discounts are offered only through Post 2000.  Check with the post in your local area to find if they honor these discounts.
